Red Savina…almost the hottest.
Here’s a picture of one of my Red Savina peppers. It’s second hottest in the world next to the Bhut Jalokia.

It looks hot but it comes in second.
About 600,000 Scoville Units. Not quite the 1,000,000 the Bhut Jolokia achieves! You can see that the pepper is moving green to orange from top down. A beautiful ruby red, which is almost visible now, will shortly follow the orange and completely envelope the fruit one it completely matures.
Over 100 peppers planted.
That’s a big yield. Of those one hundred plants there are over a dozen varieties ranging from the exotic Bhut Jalokia to the humble Jalapeno. We’ve also got the Five Color Marble pepper, the Charleston, and even the ornery Peter Pepper. Saigon Market in Cedar Rapids has just agreed to sell our peppers and you can find us downtown at the farmers markets. I’ll post pics soon!
